Welcome to The District CE Primary School. Firstly, I would like to introduce ourselves, we are a committee of parents, teachers and friends – who meet every term in school. Our official title is Friends of The District.
The Friends of The District are a charitable group, established to raise money, support the school, create a community and make a difference for our children.
The Friends of the District are a committee which meets every term to discuss and organise fundraising events within school to help raise the little extras for our children which sometimes our budgets do not stretch too. Previously, we have funded new playground equipment, helped towards school trips, books for the library, Christmas parties, school sports kits. We organise events within the school such as Easter Bingo, raffle and Discos the lists are endless. We are constantly looking for new fundraising ideas.
We provide an opportunity to make new friends and are open to all parents, carers, grandparents and teachers, even if you only have a small amount of time available.
Each year, as our children move on to the high school we lose some valuable support. We would love to gain new support to continue enabling our children to enjoy the benefits that the PTFA brings.
If you are unable to attend the meeting but wish to express an interest in the PTFA generally, please contact the school office and pass on your details and a member of the PTFA will get back to you.
Your support is really valuable to our children and always appreciated.
School Crossing Patrol
This year, has been our challenging year so far. We are trying to raise £4638.00 to cover the cost of the School Crossing Patrol positioned on Cross Lane. The local council have previously provided funds for this and due to their budget cuts they have had to cease. Our school is positioned near the centre of town and our main crossing route is on a main access route into town.
Thank you to our Chair Person – Mrs Ledson for her kind donation of £50.
Our first major fundraiser was at Tesco in Newton le Willows on Saturday 15th June 2019 – our staff together with our children assisted throughout the day in bag packing in return for donations to our School Crossing Patrol. A massive thank you for everyone who assisted in our Bag Packing Event.
Our buckets are currently being counted and once finalised – we will let you know the amount raised.
