At The District, we value our children as individuals, expressing themselves and their special talents, or their superpowers as musician/author Marc Winstanley calls them. When I spotted a post on Facebook from Marc, I realised we needed to get him to our school to emphasise to the children how important it is to express themselves.
Marc delivered an engaging and inspirational whole school assembly, which had children singing along to ‘Shotgun’ and one of Marc’s original songs, Ordinary Super Powers https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3E2ErjSwR8Q . It was thoroughly enjoyed by all, including the staff. Children were encouraged to think about what makes them special and stand out from the crowd.
Valuing children’s creative talent is something I feel very strongly about, everyone has them and they need a chance to showcase alongside their academic talents. If this is something that interests you, watch this space!
If you are still interested in purchasing one of Marc’s books at the reduced cost of £5, bring your money into school, in an envelope with your full name, class and ‘Ordinary Superpowers’ written on it and we will order some. You can subscribe to Marc’s YouTube channel Big Dog Music Production.
