Our new Reception class settled very quickly into our daily routine. The children were very excited to explore our setting.

We enjoyed exploring the story of the Gingerbread Man, we decided to make some of our own. We used a recipe book to find out which ingredients we would need, wrote shopping lists, went shopping, made our own gingerbread men and then we ate them?

Our whole school Deep Sea Dive was enjoyed by all of Reception, we got to dress up, meet a real author and then explore some real rock pool creatures. We couldn’t wait to share this with our parents.

October, this year we explored Bonfire Night through the work of a Japanese artist called, Akimoto. We found japan on the map and we explored what an art gallery looks like. We created our own paintings inspired by Akimoto.

November, saw the opening of our Hospital, the children planned the resources that they needed, we shared our experiences from visiting a hospital, we watched Cbeebies, Doctor Ranj and Nina and the Neurons explained what happens inside our bodies.

Early December, saw Reception present to their families, ‘A Miracle in Town!’ All the children worked hard to learn eight songs, sit on the stage in the BIG hall and perform for our families. Since our performance we have created beautiful illustrations about the people who visited baby Jesus which we have displayed in our classroom.
